电竞大师iosThe NSW Government has listened to feedback from water users and decided that WaterNSW will retain ownership of existing government-owned meters. WaterNSW is committed to ensuring these meters are compliant under the Government’s non-urban metering framework and will contact affected customers with further information ahead of their rollout dates for the new rules.
Water meters are the key tool for measurement and monitoring of water usage in NSW. Accurate metering is essential for fairness and equity of water sharing between users. Licence holders should check their works approval to ensure their site is compliant with current metering conditions.
电竞大师iosEffective 1 April 2019, a number of initiatives proposed under the NSW Water Reforms come in effect. These are:
- Licence holders no longer need to get authorisation from WaterNSW if their metering equipment is not working. Licence holders can now self-report when metering equipment is not working via the online s91i form. Licence holders have 24 hours to self-report once they become aware that their metering equipment is not working.
- Surface Water (regulated and unregulated) licence holders can apply to have their works made inactive. If the works are made inactive, licence holders will not be required to comply with the new metering regulations. However, once made inactive any unregulated licence will be billed on a one part tariff.

电竞大师ios has a list of certified meter installers and validators that can be found under the ‘Certification’ tab on their website. Irrigation Australia also offers courses to become a certified installer and validator.
As at 1 April 2019 the process for reporting faulty metering equipment has changed. Licence holders can now self report If their metering equipment has stopped working. There is no need to stop pumping. Licence holders have up to 24 hours (from the time they are aware that their metering equipment is faulty) to complete the online self reporting form. Licence holders do not need authorisation from WaterNSW, however licence holders will need to provide the relevant information as required by the new legislation. Failure to self report within 24 hours is a breach of the Water Management Act 2000 and will be referred to the (NRAR). Licence holders will need to specify how the water extracted will be measured whilst the metering equipment is faulty.
WaterNSW will provide a receipt of confirmation for self reporting to the licence holder containing the log book that should be used to record water take during the time the metering equipment is faulty. WaterNSW may contact the licence holder to clarify the method that will be used to record the water extracted if necessary.
电竞大师iosLicence holders will have up to 21 days to get the metering equipment repaired or replaced. Any repairs to or replacement of metering equipment need to be certified by a Duly Qualified person before the meter can be used. A list of duly qualified persons can be found at
If the metering equipment cannot be repaired or replaced within 21 days of reporting of the faulty metering equipment, the licence holder must apply for an extension of up to 21 days from WaterNSW stating the reason for the extension. WaterNSW has the right to refuse any extension/s.

Once the metering equipment has been either repaired or replaced due to an S91i the Licence holder needs to advise WaterNSW via the S91i completion form. The licence holder has up to 28 days to submit the log book that has been used to record the water taken during the time the metering equipment has been faulty. A copy of the validation certificate completed by the Duly Qualified person confirming that the meter has been installed or repaired to the required specification andthat the meter does not exceed the maximum permissible error.
Licence holders will need to specify how the water extracted will be measured whilst the metering equipment is faulty and report this to WaterNSW on the log book provided.
For all regulated river licence holders a water order must be placed before water can be pumped. Any water extracted via your pump, as determined by your meter reading, will need to be linked to a relevant water order. Visit water ordering for more information.
Meters installed by WaterNSW as part of the NSW metering scheme are state-owned and will incur a metering service charge电竞大师ios to cover the cost of operation and maintenance in accordance with the national metering standards.
电竞大师iosCharges vary depending on the size and type of meter installed. Regulated river prices are set by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). Prices for unregulated and groundwater charges are set by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART).

- If you elect to have your meter tested, a deposit is payable prior to testing.
- The deposit will be refunded in full should your meter prove to be inaccurate.
